My Wife took our dog with her to visit her friend last weekend ; thereafter she stopped at the store on the way back to grab a few things parking in the shade and cracking the windows. Someone outside saw our dog in the car barking and took it as a cry for help and cried bloody murder towards animal cruelty. Anyways this lady called the police, they came and brought animal control taking our dog and the police arrested my wife (in handcuffs) yelling loudly at her the whole time. She doesnt speak english too well and no translator was present to relay the situation or what was going on. she did not know why they were upset with her and why they were taking our dog. She was taken to City Hall and was given a summons to appear in court next month. My question is can they do this? Im not saying leaving our dog in the car was right but if dogs have rights what happened to peoples rights? She was given an animal cruelty charge and a Misdimeanor for it which im sure will stay on her record when she looks for work. She really is a sweet person and a serious dog lover. Is there any way we could get the charges dropped and our dog back?Legal Experts...Animal Cruelty Legal Advice...?
People do not have the right to lock a poor animal in a car. It was likely around 140 degrees in there. I have no idea what right you think she should have had.
I doubt the charges will be dropped, she is admittedly guilty. She will end up having the dog returned, you may have a few visits from the SPCA to check on it.
Employers usually only worry about felonies. As long as she is not looking to work with animals an animal cruelty charge should not effect her.

She got 2 charges for it ?
Are they holding the dog untill after the trial ?
Was the car running with the a/c running ?
How far were the windows ';cracked'; open ?
The yelling wasn't very profecional of the police officers.
Im sure your state attorney could make things clearer and hopefully drop the charges, Anyhow, Laws for animals are very strict in that kind of places, Though I wouldn't recommend tackling between animal rights and human rights because you would be in a big fight
Tell them she only wanted to wok the dog later
