Legal advice needed (kind of lengthy)?

A person (we will call Jane) is selling a washer for her Mother-In-Law (we will call Beth). She advertises the washer on a yardsale website. It is advertised at $200. I instantly chatted with Jane and said, ';Will you take $100 for it?'; She replied back ';Yes.';

We set up a date and time and my wife and I went to pick up the washer from Beth. When we arrived Beth greeted us and she helped us load the washer in the truck. Once loaded I told her, ';Here is $100.'; She replied, ';Oh is that all she asked for?'; I said, ';Yes, she said she would take $100';. Beth replied, ';OK'; and handed me back $20 and told me to keep that $20 because we had to do so much work loading it onto the truck.

A day or so later, Jane e-mailed me and said that she never said her mother-in-law would accept $100 for the washer. She told me that when we chatted she thought I had meant would she take $100 for a purse that she ALSO had listed. I can understand how it would have been kind of vague because I said, ';Would you take $100 for it';, but the bottom line is, her mother-in-law (the person selling the washer) accepted the $100 and EVEN gave me $20 of it back because of the labor involved.

The washer has now been delivered to MY mother-in-law an hour away, and after a couple of hours labor she had the washer running properly and cleaned. The poster/seller said they want the washer returned or else pay the rest of the money. Hours later after e-mailing back and forth they said they would take an additional $50 and call it even.

I think the deal was made and the actual seller of the item made the transaction willfully. What do you think?Legal advice needed (kind of lengthy)?
She would have a hard time bringing legal action against you. It's her fault she wasn't clear in what was being sold. While I personally believe paying $100 for a washer is a little low, it's up to you whether or not you want to give her the $50 she requested. If you don't want to pay, don't sweat it.Legal advice needed (kind of lengthy)?
peace of mind is worth more than they are asking pay the $50.00 and get on with your life.
