So i came in and talked to the BIG BOSS and he liked me so i was hired, On Febuary 10 2009. So im getting laid off in the next 6 weeks that gives them long enough to find more people to work for them because they don't have enough right now can i do anything about this???Legal Advice Please..Job BS?
If you are not under a union contract or under a written independent contractor employment contract, then you are an at will employee. At will employees can be terminated for any or no reason, with or without notice, except for discrimination by age (over 40), sex, race, color, ethnic origin, nationality, disability, religion, marital or military status. Look at www.eeoc.gov for information on discrimination complaints.
As an at will employee your employer did not legally need to give you a reason or notice of being laid off. Once you are laid off, file for unemployment benefits and look for a job.Legal Advice Please..Job BS?
It sounds like you were hired by 1 boss and then fired because of a policy right? So that sort of thing is handled by your local Dept of Human Rights.
Call them, tell them what happened and ask where to go from there.
I just looked @ their website - no age restrictions except for one that was 55 or older. Look at their website www.weberhs.org and see if that helps. Other than that, you can contact your state Labor Board for info there
