I was with my partner for 7 years, he take care of me in every way. he also claimed me on his taxes. He just left me for another guy. ( we are gay) I have no money, no job... I dont have friends or family to fall back on. Is there anyway i can receive spouses supportI need some legal advice?
Are you disabled? Depends on your circumstances on why you have no money and no job.
You were common law, so I am sure the same rules for normal marriages would apply, but depends why you're not earning.
I doubt he would have to support you though. It's a bit harsh on him if he did.I need some legal advice?
Well if you guys are still friends, you can ask him for financial support until you are able to support yourself, things may be awkard, but there is really nothing you can do about that. I would try to communicate with him though. But, just to let you know, i know (and I am 13) that you need to have your own job, even if your spouse is taking care of you, or else it could lead to the position you are in!
You don't mention your states. But, sadly, most states don't recognize your situation as a ';spousal'; situation.
I'm sorry you are going through this, this must be a very tough time.
I would search the internet to see if there are any support groups that reach out to gays in your situation.
