Hi, I am having an issue with my apartment complex.
I have paid all my rent up to date, however I was saddled with a notice to vacate this morning. Apparently, they still think that I am responsible for their former employees theft or negligence (we had a really big discussion about this last month when they tried to evict me then).
I have since shown proof that I paid and even called Western Union to prove that someone cashed my money order not long after it was given to their associate (she quit before all this drama started, which I find particularly convenient).
I cannot afford to lose my apartment over something that is not my fault. I have children and attend school nearby. Can anyone give me a name or number of a lawyer or firm (Houston area) that would give legal counsel to someone who cannot afford to pay? Thanks very much to any who can help.URGENT. Please help! Where can I get free legal advice (see inside for details)?
Almost every attorney will meet with you for a free consultation. They can let you know what they can do for you and give you a price for their fee. You don't have to use their services, but you can get an idea where you would stand. I would suggest contacting the local bar association and asking them where you can get help. There are many free services provided to low income people who qualify. Good luck to you. Found this from the site below. The Houston Bar Association offers free legal advice over the telephone through LegalLine. The Mexican American Bar and the Hispanic Bar, together with the Houston Bar Association offer Consejos Legales for Spanish speakers. The Asian community, together with the Houston Bar Association offer LegalLine for Vietnamese speakers.
