It really depends on the state of your lifestyle. If you have children, significant debts or extensive assets, an attorney would definitely be a benefit. However, if you aren't worried about custody or community property yet, you can easily file for a legal separation without using the services of an attorney. Legal separation is ok if you are to be separated and theres not any chance of revival.
