Seeking Legal advice please help!!!?

My 7 year old daughter was assaulted last week, my Sudanese neighbor who is in her late 30’s-eary 40’s was drunk and scratched my daughters face and arm, I called the police and all the told me was, “In their culture the discipline others children” and the officer’s personal opinion was that a summons wouldn’t get far.


It is just a shock to me that she is able to get away with it because of her culture, I thought we were in America? I have lived in my apartment for 5 years which means she has been my neighbor for 3 years, if she has been in America for over 3 years, shouldn’t she know the laws?


I want justice for my daughter, this is something she will remember for the rest of her life, and I do not want her thinking that this is okay. Please help us!Seeking Legal advice please help!!!?
Are you kidding me?! I have never ever heard of such a thing and both of my brothers are police officers. They were just being down right lazy as one of my brothers stated. A police report should have been immediately completed. Secondly, that is battery/assault (In NY it is not considered battery unless the person has a visible wound and in this case it would be battery/assault at least here.) However, in most states visible wounds for it to be battery is not a prerequisite. I would go to the police station to file a formal report whether they want to do it or not and specifically say you want her arrested. Make sure to get the names of the officers and I would also report the officers to the precincts sargeant and to the civilian's board (if you have one in your state.) If you do not I am certain there is a headquarters. Try to locate on the internet and report to them as well (I would have gladly looked it up, but you do not state where you reside.) I would then call child protective services and report this woman. I would also contact your state attorney general's office and report this immediately so they can pursue criminal charges against her. I give you alot of credit. I would be heading off to jail because had anyone assaulted my 6 year old son I would pummel them to no end.Seeking Legal advice please help!!!?
Problem is , you seem to be driven by a need for vengeance, hostility to foreigners cultures than want of Justice. The police saw that and courts will see that. Look for a mediator , to talk to her and find a solution. Take some time to teach her American ways, maybe she never got anyone to show her the real American way
